Poke and Co. take the delicious Hawaiian concept of Poke and make it a healthy and accessible option for everyone.
Poke is basically a raw fish salad, but with protein options like tofu and portobello mushrooms they bring some vegetarian variations, and with the use of zoodles (zucchini noodles) there’s also a light and healthy option.
When we first heard of Al Fanar, we thought it would be the usual Emirati food experience. Set inside the Town Centre mall, this branch of Al Fanar is a seafood only experience. And we were pleasantly surprised when we entered and were transported back to 1960s UAE.
Our verdict: Gorgeous setting that transports you back in time for a delicious Emirati seafood experience. Not to be missed.
Nestled on the beautiful marina promenade, is a little piece of Greece called Grecian Grill. A restaurant that treats you like family and serves food that could easily be home cooked from a Grecian household, prepared with the same love and care as if you were a guest in their home.
Our verdict: Grecian Grill gives you an insight into being in a Greek home. You will feel welcome and be served meals that are not only delicious but are as authentic as can be.
While looking for new places to try out for dinner over the weekend, we came across Espana at the Jumeirah Creekside Hotel in Garhoud. Having taken a look at the menu, the sangria and tapas selection definitely made the decision for us. This new nightspot is an amalgamation of nightlife of various Spanish cities, all in one place.
Our verdict: Some great Spanish food, with an expensive price tag and interesting decor.

A self proclaimed restaurant and ‘supper club’, Barfly by Buddha Bar is quite the eclectic venue that has a bit of everything: a bar, lounge and restaurant. The setting changes during the different times of day. During the afternoon the venue is a lounge offering shisha, early evening calls for pre-dinner drinks followed by a fine dining culinary experience.
Our verdict: Impressive dishes, even if they are expensive, mixed with fun at-table service and theatrical drinks! A fine-dining adventure overall.

Dish Catering has taken over an Al Quoz warehouse and transformed it into a makeshift restaurant with Moroccan themed furniture and tables lit with candles. It’s a cosy, somewhat romantic setting and definitely something different to try out this Ramadan.
