Oregano

“When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie that’s Oreganoooo”. To say that we were pleasantly surprised with this quaint Italian restaurant is an understatement. Great food that comes in generous portions, a comfortable vibe and good service. Oregano definitely does stand out amongst other Italian cuisine establishments.

Our verdict: Head there and tuck in for a delicious journey to Italy.

Espana Restaurant and Bar

While looking for new places to try out for dinner over the weekend, we came across Espana at the Jumeirah Creekside Hotel in Garhoud. Having taken a look at the menu, the sangria and tapas selection definitely made the decision for us. This new nightspot is an amalgamation of nightlife of various Spanish cities, all in one place.

Our verdict: Some great Spanish food, with an expensive price tag and interesting decor.

Note: This review consists of a dish made of pork. The restaurants official name is España Restaurant and Bar

Barfly by Buddha Bar, Abu Dhabi

A self proclaimed restaurant and ‘supper club’, Barfly by Buddha Bar is quite the eclectic venue that has a bit of everything: a bar, lounge and restaurant. The setting changes during the different times of day. During the afternoon the venue is a lounge offering shisha, early evening calls for pre-dinner drinks followed by a fine dining culinary experience.

Our verdict: Impressive dishes, even if they are expensive, mixed with fun at-table service and theatrical drinks! A fine-dining adventure overall.

Ramadan Nights by Dish, a Pop-up Iftar

Ramadan Nights is a pop-up space that serves a culinary Iftar experience. Dish Catering has taken over an Al Quoz warehouse and transformed it into a makeshift restaurant with Moroccan themed furniture and tables lit with candles. It’s a cosy, somewhat romantic setting and definitely something different to try out this Ramadan.

Location: Warehouse Four in Al Quoz

Ethiopian themed Iftar at Gursha

A new authentic Ethiopian restaurant that is very promising. This is Gursha’s first year presenting an Iftar to customers. It’s simple and hearty, maybe not to everyone’s taste as some items are quite tangy and some relatively bland. Either way it is definitely something to consider if you want to try something different (whether during Ramadan or any other time really). Traditionally, the style of eating is with one’s hands so don’t be shy about doing so.

Location: Club Vista Mare on Palm Jumeirah.
