Ramadan Nights by Dish, a Pop-up Iftar

Ramadan Nights is a pop-up space that serves a culinary Iftar experience. Dish Catering has taken over an Al Quoz warehouse and transformed it into a makeshift restaurant with Moroccan themed furniture and tables lit with candles. It’s a cosy, somewhat romantic setting and definitely something different to try out this Ramadan.

Location: Warehouse Four in Al Quoz

Ethiopian themed Iftar at Gursha

A new authentic Ethiopian restaurant that is very promising. This is Gursha’s first year presenting an Iftar to customers. It’s simple and hearty, maybe not to everyone’s taste as some items are quite tangy and some relatively bland. Either way it is definitely something to consider if you want to try something different (whether during Ramadan or any other time really). Traditionally, the style of eating is with one’s hands so don’t be shy about doing so.

Location: Club Vista Mare on Palm Jumeirah.

Big Fernand, City Walk

Bonjour! Bonjour! Yet another Big Fernand branch has opened up in Dubai! We were invited to a tasting there recently and had a great time sampling their homemade food and drinks. It’s a fun, new gourmet burger joint which, if you hadn’t guessed by now originated in France. This will be their third outlet in the city and it’s located in the very popular City Walk area, the other two outlets are in Dubai Festival City and The Outlet Village in Dubai Parks. They serve options for meat and veggie lovers alike and boast that all their ingredients are made in-house. This includes bread, patties, sauces and even  drinks.

Our verdict: Delicious burgers and drinks that are all made in-house, it’s a promising new burger diner. Definitely something new to try out. We were especially impressed with their veg burger and will be coming back for more.

Muchachas

We attended a blogger meet* at the ever-so-pastel Muchachas, which is another eatery set up by the brains behind Tom & Serg, The Sum Of Us and Common Grounds. Wide space, long tables, warm lighting and a range of authentic dishes make up this Mexican Cantina. We sampled dishes from their ‘Off The Street’ menu hence got to try a bit of everything.

*Organized by aziz_anzia_dubai, we also met up with one_hungry_girl and shabosphere.

Our verdict: This Mexican Canteen style set up is all about sharing plates, fun and a chilled out atmosphere. Have a few drinks, share some latin flavoured bites and enjoy conversations with friends. Definitely a bit pricey but since it’s all about sharing, dining while in a group shouldn’t break the bank.

Russo’s New York Pizzeria – Spring Menu

One of our favourite pizza places to order from and visit from time to time, Russo’s New York Pizzeria doesn’t skimp out on flavours and decent portion sizes. We were thrilled to be invited to their spring menu tasting.

Our verdict: Fresh, healthy new additions to their themed spring menu and it did not disappoint. There are some items we would love for them to permanently add on. An existing pizza place attempting fresh, new healthier options is not something you might initially consider, but the team at Russo’s and Chef Ali’s creativity really shine through so definitely give it a try.

800 Degrees Neapolitan Pizzeria, DCC

We visited 800 Degrees Neapolitan Pizzeria for a blogger meet* a few days ago. It was a first for us and was such great fun that we can’t wait to do it again.  Having ordered from 800 Degrees Pizzeria a few times before, we knew the food would be quite good, however this was the first time we actually dined in. Dining in gave us the opportunity to try a variety of dishes, besides the usual pizza and pasta, while also enjoying the venue and service.

Our verdict: 800 Degrees Neapolitan Pizzeria has a great selection of food across the board. Go for the pizzas but definitely try their soups, salads, drinks and desserts. A bit of everything!

Raju Omlet, Sheikh Zayed Road

Raju Omlet started off as a small, cosy little place in Karama serving egg-based desi breakfast faves all day long. From there they have become one of the most popular egg-based casual dining spots in UAE after they expanded to Sheikh Zayed Road (in Al Quoz) and Sharjah.

Our verdict: If you love eggs as much as we do and appreciate the ingenuity it takes to create an entire menu based off of one ingredient, you will definitely love Raju Omlet. You can try a different dish every time you visit. It’s affordable, delicious and flavoursome. One of our fave spots to eat in Dubai and definitely one of our #NomNorms. We can’t recommend it enough.
