Rajdhani Street

Rajdhani is well known for their Thali concept, and are quite innovative in that space as well. Rajdhani Street is a new concept initiated by the creators of the amazing Thali. Here you can expect an a-la-carte experience from an extremely innovative menu. As you begin browsing through the items, you are bound to spot many dishes that are unique. The entire menu is vegetarian but honestly when the food is so good, you won’t miss non-veg at all.

Our Verdict: An innovative, fun menu of delicious dishes. Rajdhani Street is definitely worth a visit.

Food

We honestly wanted to order many items, but were only a group of three and wouldn’t be able to finish it all. Keeping that in mind, we still did order quite alot, here is what we tried:

Bakarwadi Chaat: We started off with a bang. Imagine a dahi papadi chaat but swap out the papadi for bakarwadi. If you are confused, then you’re not alone. We were too, but this dish blew us away. With a chaat like this, the presentation isn’t going to be that great, but Rajdhani Street have added a fun little twist by serving it up in a small shovel.

Paanki: A dish that we have not tried before but were excited to give it a shot. The paanki is a traditional Gujarati dish. It’s a thin dense rice pancake that is served in a leaf. A very tasty dish and if you haven’t had this before it might be worth exploring.

Dhokla Pizza: Think of a pizza, now swap the base for dhokla. Another dish that isn’t quite the looker but tastes great. Its light and easy to eat, with the dhokla base having the perfect textural balance of being soft yet firm enough to hold toppings.

Pav-Bhaji Fondue: A well presented fondue version of the classic Pav Bhaji. The bhaji was delicious and even though they provide skewers for the pav, we ended up using our hands and spoons to soak up all that deliciousness.

Cheese Chilli Khari: Khari, for us is a dish you would normally have with tea. But add some chilli and cheese on top and it’s a brand new snack altogether. Another crunchy and delicious dish.

Cheese Chakli Vada Pav: Think of your traditional snack favourite, but in this case the vada is stuffed with Chakli and with some cheese. It’s a fantastic concept and we absolutely loved the flavours and crunch factor. Another winner.

Aloo Sambbhariya Papad Churi: Aloo rolls, something many Indians have grown up on. Add some crunchy papad and the dish gets elevated to whole other level. A nice snack option.

Zaikedaar Paneer Roti Combo: This dish is meant for those looking for a more wholesome meal. The paneer was chatpata and creamy, just perfect. Everything on the plate complemented each other so well that we wished we had more space in our stomachs to have some more.

Aamras: It’s the mango season, and T absolutely must have aamras. Made with fresh mangoes, not puree (you can taste the difference!).

Drinks

Hara Pudina Shikanji: Innovating a simple shikanji drink can be hard, but with the tall beaker style glass and good use of mint leaves makes the drink delicious and refreshing.

Surti Coco: Our first experience with this apparently traditional chocolate milk drink. It was delicious and sweet. It wasn’t too heavy either which is great.

Desserts

Chocolate Samosa: We have had a version of this previously and were looking forward to a different take on the same. The Rajdhani Street samosas are nice and crispy on the outside full of chocolate in the middle, a nice sweet and crunchy way to end the meal.

Jalebi with rabdi: Rajdhani presents this dessert in a unique way by service 3 strips of jalebi (3 spirals each) in a cocktail glass with the rabdi in the middle. The Jalebi was a bit thicker than what we prefer, but the taste was great and the rabdi had the right consistency.

Venue

The venue is simple and inviting with a throwback to the city streets of India. As Indians we can really relate to such a theme. It’s simple yet nice and keeps your focus on the main event, the food.

How to get to Rajdhani Street

Rajdhani Street is located in Cluster I, on the upper level of Platinum Tower. The restaurant is facing the lake so you have to go around to the back of the building.

By Car: It’s quite simple to get to Rajdhani Street, head to Cluster I, park in the paid parking spot. Make sure you pay using your phone (either the app or SMS) as the parking is no longer free for 3 hours.

By Cab: Similar to the car, you can simply tell the driver to head to JLT, Cluster I and then get dropped off at the middle building (near Hardee’s).

By Public Transport: It’s equally easy to get to Rajdhani Street by public transport. Take the red line Metro to the JLT metro station, get off landside and take the blue feeder bus JLT2 to JLT, Silver Tower Stop. Walk towards the lake, go one floor up and you should be able to find Rajdhani Street.
