Blaze Burgers

A burger joint where customization is front and center and spice levels are not compromised. Blaze Burgers is a place that burger lovers shouldn’t miss out on. This isn’t a fast food place so don’t expect your order to come right out.

Our Verdict: Come prepared with a big appetite and don’t be afraid to experiment, you can’t go wrong.

The Food:

As a burger lover, T was right at home at Blaze Burgers, probably a bit too much even. The concept is to create your own burger whichever way you want it. You get to choose the patty, the sauce, the bread and the toppings. It’s a brilliant concept. However it does come at a price.

We tried the following:

Reloaded Fries with Scoopers [AED 26]: We were very curious to try the scoopers and the amount of potato is great, the scoopers are fun to eat and you can “Scoop” the sauce and other ingredients with it and just get a mouth full of mind blowing flavour.

Onion Rings [AED 18]: Giant rings with a golden crunchy outside, simply yum! If you can’t decide on what to get, then this is a safe bet you will not be disappointed.

We also got the following sauces:

Awesomeness Sauce: Yes its the “secret” sauce so we aren’t really sure what’s in it, but it’s good. It’s a rare sauce that seems to go with everything. Meat, potato, onion everything. Write a try!

Habanero Mayo: If you like spice, then this is the one to get. We love the taste of habanero, and this is just such a win. M doesn’t like Mayo but she still enjoyed this one thanks to the delicious and very prominent habanero flavour.

Chipotle Ketchup: Got the delicious burnt spicy flavour of chipotle mixed with the sweetness of ketchup, a good sweet and spicy sauce with a charcoal-y kick.

6abooga Burger [AED 72]: The whole concept of this burger is insane. A thick Angus patty between two Grilled Cheese sandwiches. Yes you read that right. How could we not try it? We tried it with the Awesomeness Blaze sauce. Basically this burger/sandwich hybrid is genius and just delicious! The cheese was perfect, the sandwiches were perfect, the patty was moist and even had some cheese stuffing. The sauce was complimented it well too. While it is pricy, it’s worth it since two people can easily share this one.

Grilled Chicken with a Soft Brown Bun and Heaven & Hell toppings [AED 42]: Another burger where they knocked it out of the park. The bun is great, it’s soft and fluffy while not falling apart or getting soggy. The chicken was perfectly cooked, tender and delicious. The sauce and condiments go perfectly well. Just an overall brilliant dish. The only issue was that the sauce wasn’t well spread and so we didn’t get the delicious spicy kick with every bite.

The Toppings we chose had Nuclear Mustard which was quite spicy but was perfect for our palates. A delicious sauce worth trying as well but not for the faint at heart.

The Drinks:

Maltesers Milkshake [AED 38]: We almost didn’t get this because we felt it wouldn’t be that great, but we would have been wrong. It was a delicious and relatively thick shake. The maltesers chunks are delicious. Blaze Burgers didn’t hold back with this one.

Blaze on the Beach [AED 22]: Not the most fresh drink, with a mix of flavours we were really left with the taste of orange more than anything else. Refreshing on a hot day, but we would highly recommend going with a shake instead.

The Dessert:

Cookie Blondie [AED 41]: This was sadly the most disappointing part of our lunch. The cookie was hard in places, feeling uncooked while perfect in others. While we love the use of salt in desserts, here after every bite it felt like we were left with an extra pinch of salt in the mouth. It just feels like the dish was undercooked and rushed a bit. The white chocolate sauce was not very good either. Unfortunately we can’t recommend this dish. It might be that the rest of the food set the bar so high that it’s probably hard for the dessert to match it.

The Venue:

Blaze is a simple yet edgy restaurant setup that has some lovely quirks that go so well with 2018. The basic concept is to build your own burger, though they have some recommendations. You have to order at the counter and then head to the “Market” of sorts where you grab a basket and pick the condiments you would like to have with your burger. They have the usual Mustard, Mayo and Ketchup. But Blaze also has a variety of chili sauces that can suite all levels of spice! Just delicious and fun to do. We thoroughly enjoyed this and had a good time picking through the options.

How to get there:

Blaze burgers is located at the start of JBR, near Sadaf 2. It is right after Starbucks, before IHOP.

By Car: For parking you have 2 options. The hourly parking is 10AED/hour or you can get the 50 AED parking per day. Head in the direction of JBR, if you are heading towards Abu Dhabi, take the second right turn into JBR. You will see the Green Parking on your right. Head into that and park. Walk down the ramp and head towards the beach. You will see Blaze on your left after you pass the first Starbucks.

By Cab: Your best bet is to tell the driver Rixos or Movenpick hotel. Once you reach JBR keep an eye out for Starbucks, as the next restaurant is Blaze. Get off there and you should be good.

By Public Transport: Any location on JBR isn’t metro/bus friendly, however you can take the tram or bus and get off at JBR 1 station. From there head opposite the direction of traffic on King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud St and then take a left towards the beach. From here head in the direction of Rixos the palm
