Skye & Walker defines itself to be a sustainable neighborhood eatery with delicious yet nutritious dishes on their menu. And they sure stay true to it. It’s a marvelous space with interesting menu options that are healthier but don’t skimp out on flavour and aren’t limited to just salads and smoothies. Great option for breakfast, brunch or lunch.

The Food
We went to Skye & Walker for a late Friday breakfast, which meant it was basically time for brunch. We ordered food from Skye & Walker’s huge a la carte menu.
2 Free Range Poached Eggs [AED 45]: Grilled halloumi, roasted tomatoes, zaatar pesto and toasted bread with zaatar on the side. We didn’t know what to expect with this dish but it’s safe to say we thoroughly enjoyed it. The halloumi was cooked well and had a nice browning to it and wasn’t overly rubbery in texture, the eggs were poached well and the avatar pesto brought the dish together. It was a well thought out take on a Middle Eastern poached eggs breakfast dish.
Buttermilk Pancakes [AED 55]: Whipped cream, butter, maple syrup and fresh blueberries. Soft, buttery pancakes with fresh blueberries: it’s become a popular breakfast option in Dubai and Skye & Walker prepare it well. The pancakes were well made and fluffy and presented well with blueberries around the side and sprinkled with icing sugar. We would have like some blueberries in the pancakes themselves though.
Baked Sweet Potato Gnocchi Casserole [AED 65]: Tomato sauce, organic minced beef, basil, fresh mozzarella and a toasted baguette with garlic. A great flavourful, hearty dish and a generous portion too. Even though sweet potato was used instead of everyone’s favourite starchy root vegetable; it accompanied this Italian style dish well.
The Drinks
Cappuccino [AED 25]: Great cup of coffee, strong, medium bodied and presented well.
Latte [AED 25]: Again, a good coffee option. Presented in a traditional tall glass mug.
Service
Skye & Walker was quite empty at the time that we visited, there were just about 2 or 3 other people around. Thus the service was as you expect, attentive and quick. The food came relatively quick and the servers made us feel comfortable. They also spent time helping us choose what to order.
The Venue
Skye & Walker is located on the ground floor of the Marriott Executive Apartments in Deira. The space itself is in tune with their sustainable concept with their furniture, flooring and interior decor all made from either recycled or natural materials. On the other end of the main entrance is a little reading nook with a curvilinear book shelf and a table in the middle that one can sit, read and have a cup of coffee. In the other corner, Skye & Walker have got a traditional Middle Eastern set up with floor seating and Arabian prints. They’ve also got a large outdoor seating area which is on the right side of the main entrance to the hotel apartments. A great option for the winder days and enough space inside for the hot summer ones as well.
How to Get there
By Car: Clocktower roundabout is the best landmark as the Marriott Executive Apartments are close by from there. You can easily see the buildings from a distance, there are two towers with a bridge in the middle. If coming from Maktoum Bridge towards clock tower roundabout, take the Deira/Al Das exit on the right side before the underpasses. Take the D78 ramp and keep left to continue toward 17th St. At the roundabout, take the 1st exit, Skye & Walker will be on the right side.
By Cab: Ask your driver to take you to the Marriott Executive Apartments near the Dubai Creek, Al Buteen Street, Baniyas.
By Public Transport: The location isn’t particularly metro friendly. The closest station would be Union Metro Station. You can then take a taxi to Skye & Walker.
