Pop Up

Ramadan Nights by Dish

Ramadan Nights by Dish, a Pop-up Iftar

A pop-up space that serves a culinary Iftar experience. Dish Catering has taken over an Al Quoz warehouse and transformed it into a makeshift restaurant. The space was decorated with Moroccan themed furniture and tables lit with candles. It’s a cosy, somewhat romantic setting and definitely something different to try out this Ramadan. Iftars in Dubai tend to take place in tents and closed spaces due to the heat, but Ramadan Nights makes you feel like you are out in the open.

The food: The menu varies every day, so this is just what we had when we visited. They started us off with a selection of dates, followed by a roasted butternut squash and red lentil soup topped with toasted almonds, chili and argan oil. We were then presented with a delicious green olive hummus with pistachio, sesame and olive oil served with artisan bread and crisp flat bread. The salads included a grilled peach and green bean salad, rocket and orange blossom dressing, torn falafel salad with fried cauliflower, pine nuts, sumac and tahini dressing and a salt-baked beetroot with zaatar, sesame, mint and harissa labneh. The mains consisted of slow braised shoulder of lamb in Middle Eastern spices, a tartar style salmon with coriander, fennel, walnut and radish, a chicken dish, charcoal chicken marinated in rose and pomegranate with a parsley and almond salsa.

The desserts: We were served two desserts. The first was a pink grapefruit curd with citrus mousse, caramelized pink grapefruit and shredded pomelo. The second was a milk chocolate and coconut cremeux with chocolate soil, passionfruit and vanilla compote.

The drinks: Dish served two drink options. The first was a fresh green apple, cucumber, lemon, elderflower, basil drink. The second was a lychee, Middle Eastern rose drink. There were bottles of water on the table which were constantly refilled. They also offered coffee and tea after the meal.
