Wok & Wrap is so much more than just wok based dishes and wraps. If you are in the mood for Asian, or to try some crazy combinations, then this is a place to visit. You can also head here if you want some quick bites with a variety of snacks available.

Our Verdict: A restaurant that deserves a try. Play it safe or go wild, it’s your choice, but you probably won’t be disappointed.

The Food

To start off, you are treating to some prawn crackers as we have grown accustomed to in various asian restaurants. However here they give you some kind of vinegar “sauce” (its more like a dressing) along with the crackers, instead of the usual sweet and spicy sauce.

Okonomiyako: We were told that this is a fish cake. Instantly we thought of the small fish cake discs that you would usually get at an Asian restaurant. We were definitely proven wrong. The Okonomiyako is a huge fish pancake that is dense and delicious. While this may not be for everyone, we certainly liked it. You get a big flat fish cake, topped with a variety of veggies, tiny shrimp, seaweed and a kind of Japanese barbeque sauce. Honestly we thought it was very similar to ketchup, which would usually put us off, but we couldn’t stop munching away. We loved it, but like we said, it may not be for everyone.

Black Pepper Prawns Wrap: We had to try one of the dishes that is in the name, and so we chose the prawn one. The wrap is actually quite big and really delicious, the pieces of prawn were tasty.

Custom WOK: We decided to “build” our own WOK. which meant we got to choose the ingredients we wanted. We chose: Udon Noodles and Chicken with Szechuan Sauce. The dish was perfect, the udon was the right density and the flavours were delicious. For those who have tried szechuan sauce before, give this a try since its quite different from the ones you are used to.

Custom Sushi: Keeping the DIY theme going, we decided to “make” our own sushi as well. No, we didn’t actually prepare it, but we chose what ingredients we wanted. We chose: White rice, Ebi Tempura, Mango Mayo, Tobiko in the Ura Maki style. Again, this dish turned out to be great. The flavours worked quite well together. Our only real complaint was that the wasabi was very mild. Still, a worthy sushi option.

The Drinks

We decided to try the Twix milkshake since it’s not a flavour we see often. The milkshake was pretty sweet and the chocolatey flavour was quite present, but it didn’t taste like Twix nor did we get many chunks of the chocolate bar. It was tasty but a bit underwhelming. Also the milkshake wasn’t really thick, like we usually prefer.

Wok & Wrap’s Venue

Wok n Wrap has a really cool “street” vibe to it. Spray painted walls and quirky decorations all over the place. We felt like we were chilling in one of the little restaurants on the streets of Kuala Lampur! There is also outdoor seating, but due to the heat we opted to sit inside.
Once you enter you see the sushi counter on the right, on the left you have the kitchen.
Check out our stories on Instagram for a video walkthrough of the venue.

How to get there

Wok & Wrap is Located in Goldcrest Executive Tower, Cluster C, JLT. They are located on the lower level (near the lake) facing Almas tower. So if you are on the G level, you need to head one level down.

By Car: Cluster C is around Almas West Lake. Which is on the side closest to Abu Dhabi, i.e. south. The best way to get here is to head into Cluster C and look for parking. At the time of writing this there is some construction taking place at one of the parking areas and so there aren’t many options. You can also park at Cluster B or D. Though we recommend parking at D since getting out of Cluster B is confusing.

By Cab: Since JLT and its clusters are pretty well known to the Taxi Drivers, you can always ask them to take you directly to Cluster C.

By Public Transport: You can take the metro to JLT station on the Red Line. Get off landside and head over across the road to Cluster C. Wok & Wrap is a short walk from there.
