Italian Iftar at Sapori – Ramadan 2018

Sapori’s iftar concept is interesting and a great value for money. And who doesn’t like pizza? Titled as the La Familia iftar, Sapori serves up an unlimited buffet serving their amazing Italian cuisine to your table.

The food

It’s created as per a family style menu, where you have a selection of various antipasti at a buffet table as well as a selection of pizzas including the popular margherita, diavola and quattro formaggi to name a few, along with pastas and risotto. All of which are served at your table along with a main where your choices include either meat, chicken, seafood or lamb.

The antipasti table had some fresh salads such as caprese and a kale and pecan salad which was surprisingly flavoursome along with cheeses including a big parmesan wheel which we thoroughly enjoyed. There was also fried mozzarella, calamari and freshly baked focaccia. For mains we tried the chicken with mushrooms in a cream sauce which was delicious. And the truffle and diavola pizzas were our favourites too. Cheesy with the right amount of sauce and toppings with a nice crust.

The desserts

Cakes on display: pistachio, lemon meringue, chocolate cake. They’ve also got a special date gelato specially prepared for the month of Ramadan. The pistachio cake is delicious! So moist and sweet although we wish there were a bit more crushed pistachios within the layers to add some texture. The date gelato is also a must try, with date pieces in the mix and a nice rich flavour.

The drinks

We tried the watermelon mojito, virgin mojito and sunrise. The drinks were alright, refreshing enough to accompany the carb heavy dishes on the menu.
